Asus ProArt PX13 review: One of the best laptops in the market for creators

When it comes to laptops designed for creative professionals, the Asus ProArt PX13 is vying for a top spot. With a focus on performance, vibrant visuals, and a sleek design, this laptop promises to meet the demands of digital artists, video editors, and anyone else whose workload requires some serious computing power. But how well does it actually deliver in real-world use? I’ve spent some time with this portable powerhouse, running benchmarks, editing large video files, and seeing how it holds up against the competition. Here’s everything you need to know before making a decision.
For creators, performance is crucial, and the Asus ProArt PX13 doesn’t disappoint. It packs an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor, 24GB of RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU. Translation: it’s built to power through demanding tasks. From video editing in Premiere Pro to rendering 3D models, the PX13 breezed through everything I threw at it.
AMD’s new Ryzen AI series is at the heart of this performance. This chip has a multithreaded design that chews through complex tasks, making it an ideal choice for those working with large files or AI-based software. While this machine isn’t a gaming laptop, the RTX 4050 makes it possible to run games at respectable settings. Still, its true strength lies in GPU-heavy creative tasks — think 3D rendering or video processing.

The ProArt PX13’s 13.3-inch OLED display is one of its standout features. With a 3K resolution of 2880 x 1880, it delivers stunning detail, and its 60Hz refresh rate ensures smooth performance without sacrificing battery life. Sure, higher refresh rates are out there, but this laptop isn’t built for competitive gaming. Instead, Asus has focused on providing a display that makes colours pop and blacks look deep and rich — perfect for photo and video work.
The touch-enabled OLED screen is especially nice when using creative software, allowing precise control with a stylus. It even includes a feature to prevent OLED burn-in with a screensaver that kicks in automatically. And while a stylus isn’t included in the box, the screen’s support for multiple pressure levels makes it a great option for digital artists who want to draw directly on the screen.

Even in tent mode, the PX13 is sturdy and does not wobble

Let’s talk power. The Asus ProArt PX13 comes with a 73-watt-hour battery, with a 200W AC adapter. While it’s not a slouch, it’s not exactly the marathon runner in its class. In a controlled battery rundown test, the laptop lasted around 14 hours, which is respectable given the power-hungry OLED display and high-performance hardware. However, real-world usage — especially if you’re doing anything resource-intensive like video editing — will see that number drop.
I tested the Asus ProArt PX13’s battery along with the M4 MacBook Pro’s and was beaten by the latter when it comes to endurance. This could be a deal-breaker if you’re someone who spends a lot of time working on the go. For creators mostly working from a desk, where a power outlet is always nearby, it’s less of an issue.

Asus ProArt PX13 offers several tools for colour accuracy

The Asus ProArt PX13 is all about blending aesthetics with practicality. Its all-aluminium chassis gives it a sturdy, premium feel, while maintaining a sleek, all-black look. Weighing in at 1.38kg, it’s impressively portable for a laptop that packs this much power.
One feature I found particularly useful is the 360-degree hinge. It allows you to rotate the screen fully, enabling tent mode for presentations or laying it flat for sketching with a stylus. The hinge is smooth yet firm, making the laptop feel solid even with frequent adjustments.
The touchpad is responsive, with a hidden trick up its sleeve: the Asus “DialPad.” This little gadget can be activated by a gesture, and while it’s a cool idea, I found it to be a bit fiddly in practice. It’s definitely a feature that requires some getting used to, and if you do, it can streamline tasks in creative apps like Photoshop. But for those who prefer simplicity, it might just end up as a neat but underused feature.

The DialPad is cool but an underused feature for me

The PX13 doesn’t skimp on connectivity. With two USB-C ports (supporting USB4), a USB-A port, HDMI 2.1, and a microSD card reader, it’s got all the essentials covered. This makes it easy to hook up to external drives, monitors, or pretty much any peripheral you might need. For a creator working with large files, the microSD slot is a nice touch, offering a convenient way to expand storage or transfer data directly from a camera.
Networking options are also strong with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, ensuring fast wireless connectivity. And with an IR camera for facial recognition, logging in is both secure and quick.
When it comes to cooling, the ProArt PX13 manages to keep its temperature in check, even during intense tasks. This is great news if you’ve ever dealt with a laptop that turns into a mini heater during video exports. However, the trade-off is noise. The fans are effective but can get loud, especially when the laptop is under heavy load. It’s not a deal-breaker, but if you’re used to the quiet operation of Snapdragon-powered laptops, it’s noticeable.

It has a beautiful and premium finish but it does attract dust and smudges easily

With a price of Rs 215,990 for the Nvidia RTX 4050 variant that we have, the Asus ProArt PX13 is an investment. And considering its performance, stunning display, and thoughtful design, it’s one that’s worth making if you’re a creator. It’s a versatile machine that feels premium, both in build and in experience. It has its quirks — like a relatively short battery life and noisy fans — but it more than makes up for them with its performance and premium feel.
For those who prioritise battery life above all else, it may be worth considering other options. But if your focus is on getting top-tier performance and a display that does justice to your creative work, the ProArt PX13 is an excellent choice.
